A Profile of Amanda Hesser

A really fun book I read earlier this summer was Cooking for Mr. Latte by Amanda Hesser. Ms. Hesser is a former New York Times food critic and writer who has since co-founded Food52. I found her book charming and cute and certainly envy her career in food... it is a great beach read for anyone interested in food and courtship.
A blog I read regularly, A Cup of Jo, featured Ms. Hesser last Friday discussing how she "balances" it all - being a working woman, a wife and a mother to twins. I really enjoyed her profile, particularly the following question and response:
"11. What advice would you give to other moms about how to balance work and life?
My advice would be to stop thinking about it as a gender issue. Think of it as a parent issue. And demand as much from your partner as you demand from yourself."
I spent last weekend with three of my closest girlfriends in Northampton on our annual "Tour de _______" girl's weekend (more on that later). We all are professionals, one of us is a mom, and this subject definitely came up. I always appreciate another person's perspective.
