All images courtesy of Laurel DenisePart of our Tour de Northampton last weekend included perusing the local shops, including one with pretty, affordable jewelry. I particularly loved the delicate "simply stated" necklaces by Laurel Denise. They'd make a wonderful gift, particularly for someone in need of some inspiration or encouraging words or to commemorate an important occasion.
The "mama" necklace makes me think of a dear friend who is in labor as I write this! So exciting!

Finn Jewelry as featured in Vogue Magazine (June 2009)My everyday jewelry includes my wedding band, engagement ring and the pearl and diamond earrings that belonged to my Grandmother. I love the simplicity of wearing the same jewelry each day but sometimes I want to mix things up a bit, which can be tricky to balance with the need to keep things work-appropriate. I find that while I love bracelets, they are troublesome to wear when I have to type (always) and that longer, funkier necklaces often don't pair well with my work clothes.
Rings, on the other hand, are easy to wear and generally don't interfere with work activities. It is nice to wear a ring on my right-hand occasionally and while I love the super bling-y right-hand rings featured in the famous De Beers advertising campaign in 2003, those rings are a bit out of my price range. Plus, I prefer something a bit more understated and delicate. In my opinion, simple is often better.
A few of my favorite designers are featured below, including Daisy Knights, Kiel Mead and Finn Jewelry. It was the love knot from Finn Jewelry that originally caught my eye in the June 2009 Vogue Magazine (see the image above) and again in the NY Times 2009 Holiday Gift Guide and started me thinking about a dainty right-hand-ring. My feminine side leans more toward knots, bows and hearts where my funkier side loves the feather, the wings, the snake and the skull featured below. What do you think?
Below are the Finn Jewelry love knot rings that come in a variety of metals and with or without gemstones. I particularly love the rose gold version...
As a side note, I have heard recently about people receiving gifts of jewelry from their husbands or partners when they have a baby. One of these rings might be a great option!

Thursday, March 10, 2011 at 4:35 PM Some outfits just need a little something... whether it is dramatic necklace or a whimsical ring or bracelet, a piece of jewelry is often just the piece of flair that you are missing. While my work jewelry leans more toward conservative jewelry such as pearls, I do love to mix things up a bit in the evening or on the weekend. For those of you who work in a more creative work environment, these also might fly (no pun intended) in your office. Lately I have been loving the proliferation of insect-inspired jewelry that I have seen. The colors are vibrant, the shapes are awesome and they will certainly serve as a conversation piece.

And if insect-laden jewelry isn't your thing, how about an insect-printed dress from Milly?
