Milly & Banana Republic

Flights to and from the East Coast recently afforded me time to catch up on my magazine reading and I saw a few ads for the Banana Republic and Milly collection that will be released on May 30th!  I've loved Milly since I bought one of their dresses for law school prom (yup, doesn't that sound romantic?) and how great is it that they are collaborating with Banana Republic to offer a lower-priced collection?  The theme is preppy-casual and is inspired by summer in the Hamptons.  I have my eye on the elephant print shorts and bag... Faherty Brand Swimwear

We've been traveling in Southeast Asia for the past 19 days where the temps rose to triple digits and all I could think of was beaches and summer and air conditioning.  And to what did we return?  A blizzard in Denver.

I'm taking the turn back to winter personally and trying to think warm thoughts, including of these fantastic swimsuits from Faherty Brand.  I learned of the brand via Vogue and love the prints and the fact that the swimwear fabric is made primarily from recycled polyester from plastic bottles.  They make suits in a variety of cuts for both women and men and the fabrics are inspired by travels to Tahiti, Indonesia, and India.  All images credit to Faherty Brand via the company's website.

Andy & Evan

This WSJ article introduced me to a super cute line of "formal" clothes for little boys called Andy & Evan.  The company's tag line is "for little gentlemen," which I love.  I'm certain that the practicality of dressing up a little boy in anything fancy is nil, but they certainly look great all decked out and certain occasions lend themselves to wearing fancy attire (even if they are, as co-founder Jonathan Perl describes, simultaneously eating a crayon).  The company was started by by two men who had worked at hedge funds lost their jobs in during the recession.  You can find their clothes in 500 stores world-wide, including Neiman Marcus, Bloomingdale's and FAO Schwarz.  All images credit to Andy & Evan via Neiman Marcus.

The Peter Pan Collar

Feminine and a bit girly (but not overly so if paired correctly), the Peter Pan collar has emerged in a big way this season.  Peter pan collars are flat with rounded corners and are named after the collar of the costume worn by Maude Adams who played Peter Pan in 1905.  My favorite tops (and a dress) that include these collars are below.  Note that you can also buy a beaded or fabric collar in the Peter Pan shape and wear with any scoop neck shirt to create your own -- I included my favorite from BHLDN below and Etsy is full of options.  Has anyone seen any cute versions of this look?
