The Bib Necklace

A current trend that I love but have yet to be brave enough to try is the bib necklace.  I think the look is dramatic and attention-getting when paired on a solid-colored dress or top and there are great options at various price points.  Does anyone have one of these?  If so, is the necklace versatile?  I'm less likely to give this a try at the $100+ price point, but many of these are below that!

I have one of these that I got a couple of years ago off Gilt. It's pink stones with gold colored metal. I have worn it only a few times (I'm not a big-jewelry girl either), but I always get compliments when I do. A friend has a big turquoise necklace and I just love the versatility of that color. I'm kind of in love with this crazy one from AT as well:

Darcy, I have been wanting to try out the bib necklace, too, but am too afraid that I can't pull it off, and I never know what's the appropriate neckline to pair with it. Not that I ever dress up, but I recently went to a wedding, and I wore this dress from Madewell: http://www.madewell.com/madewell_category/DRESSES/waistdefined/PRDOVR~79764/79764.jsp, which I loved — it was so comfortable and for once felt I made a practical choice (as opposed to wearing a strapless dress that I feel self conscious in the entire night, which is what I usually do). What do you think? You're the expert. Do you think a bib necklace would be too much with this dress?

Jackie, that Ann Taylor necklace is so fun! I bet you'd find a places to wear that. It reminds me a bit of the Flower Lattice Necklace from J.Crew (http://www.jcrew.com/womens_category/jewelry/necklaces/PRDOVR~95091/95091.jsp).

Ali, I LOVE that dress from Madewell. So cute! They make great dresses but they are always too short on me. While I am hardly the expert, I think you could totally pull off a solid color bib necklace with that dress - maybe a pink, turquoise, or orange. Let me know if you try it! I think I am going to be brave and order one of the less expensive options...

oooh pretty sparkly things! I want! I also can never figure out the neckline that is appropriate for this type of necklace. Let me know how it works out for you, Darcy!
